DJ Chilly E

IS BROOKLYN IN THE HOUSE...??

Brooklyn, New York is the birthplace of Eric Wright, alias DJ Chilly E, who originally jumped into the music scene as a rapper at age 15 in his neighborhood crew consisting of 2 DJs and 3 MCs.  He eventually found his love for DJ-ing and began to polish his skills on the turntables.

After enlisting in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, at age 19 he was stationed at Coleman Barracks in Mannheim, Germany, where he started spinning at NCO clubs and private parties. He eventually left the army to pursue music full-time and shortly thereafter released his first official mix-tape entitled “The Groove Line”, named after the first record he ever bought (by the group “Heatwave”). Over 20 volumes of the “Groove Line” have since been released.

In 1997, he became the first official Hip-Hop/R&B DJ for ‘Radio Sunshine Live’, and in March 1999, started his own weekly live mix show called (what else?) “The Groove Line Radio Show”. In time, the “Groove Line” had become one of Germany’s hottest Black-Music radio shows, and Chilly E became one of the most requested DJs in the Black-Music scene.

In 2001, after 'Sunshine Live' changed it's music format to strictly techno and EDM, DJ Chilly E was recruited by Mr. Kai Kemper, the Marketing Manager of radio “BIG-FM” to begin a new radio show, and in 2002, “The Groove Night Radio Show” premiered, and Chilly E became the official Black-Music-DJ for radio ‘BIG-FM’. Due to it's enormous success, the show was moved from Sunday nights to a primetime slot Friday evenings and eventually became the biggest Black-Music mix show in German radio, and DJ Chilly E was regularly booked for club shows and concerts throughout Europe and Asia.

DJ Chilly E has also supported countless international artists on their European tours, and released several singles under his former "GrooveLine" record label, including the hit song, "I'm the Man" (featuring Cameraman and Idrise) which reached the Top 10 on the European MTV/VIVA Black Music Charts. His latest single "New Life" featuring Chivas Kimber is also creating a lot of buzz in the music scene.

With over two decades in the game and hundreds of live shows under his belt, DJ Chilly E definitely has his finger on the pulse of what's trending in urban music, lifestyle, and culture.
